What It Is & How to Fix It
Error code 807B0193 is one of the most frustrating Xbox 360 alerts, typically appearing when you try to access Xbox Live, download your profile, or use streaming apps like Netflix and Hulu. The good news: it’s almost always fixable without sending your console anywhere.
This error code points to problems in one of four areas:
- Hold the Xbox button on the console for 10 seconds until it fully powers off.
- Disconnect the power cable from both the console and wall outlet.
- Wait at least 60 seconds — this clears the cache.
- Reconnect the power, turn the console on, and try Xbox Live again.
- Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
- Go to Profile & system → Settings → Network → Network Settings.
- Select Test Network Connection — any known outages or connection failures will appear here.
- If you see a failure, select Advanced Settings and try alternate DNS (e.g. 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4).
- Restart your router/modem and retest.
- Visit Xbox Live Status from a phone or computer.
- Look for any service alerts — especially for “Xbox Live Core Services” or “Sign-in.”
- If services show alerts, scroll to Notifications and sign in to be alerted when they’re back.
- Simply wait for Microsoft to restore the service — this can take minutes to a few hours.
- From the Xbox 360 Dashboard, go to Settings → System → Storage.
- Select your storage device and navigate to Profiles.
- Highlight your gamertag and choose Delete, then select Delete Profile Only (not saves).
- Return to the Dashboard and go to Download Profile — sign in with your Microsoft account.
- Your profile will be re-downloaded fresh, clearing any corruption.
- Ensure your console is connected to the internet.
- Go to Settings → System → Console Info & Updates.
- Select Update Console — if an update is available, install it.
- Restart the console after the update completes and try reconnecting to Live.

Frequently Asked Questions
No as long as you select “Delete Profile Only” and not “Delete Profile and Items,” your saved games remain untouched on the storage device. Your profile data itself is linked to your Microsoft account and can always be re-downloaded.
Almost certainly not. This error is a network/service communication error not a hardware failure. It means the console couldn’t complete a handshake with Xbox Live, which is a software-level problem. If all five fixes above fail consistently over multiple days, the issue is likely on Microsoft’s end or a persistent ISP/router issue.
Streaming apps on Xbox 360 route through Xbox Live for authentication before connecting to their own servers. Even if your Xbox Live connection is marginal, games may work fine while streaming apps fail due to higher bandwidth and stricter authentication requirements. Try clearing the app cache or reinstalling the app from the Marketplace.
